ECO-SUSTAINABILITY IN PEJO THERMAL SPA

Taking care of the environment has always been the inspiring value ​​of the corporate mission of the Terme di Pejo. The Spa facilities are harmoniously integrated into the surrounding environment and they are an oasis of quiet and relaxation in the heart of the Stelvio National Park. The architecture of the building with large windows connects and integrates the spa with the surrounding nature, from which the mineral springs derive.

The Spa facilities have recently been renovated and expanded with the aim of integrating them with the alpine landscape of the Stelvio National Park. New technical solutions and systems have been implemented and great attention has been paid to energetic sustainability. Consequently, the quality level of treatments has been increased and the specific curative properties of the three mineral sources (Antica Fonte, Nuova Fonte and Fonte Alpina) have been valorized.

The Spa facilities have been equipped with new generation technologies that make it possible to make the most of the mineral water’s health properties as well as to consume smaller quantities of energy and improve the quality of the operators' work. Eco-sustainability is pursued through the use of clean energy and the minimization of the use of chemicals, of industrial origin, in the cleaning and sanitizing processes of the plants.

The town of Pejo and the Autonomous Province of Trento designed and built the underground piping connection of the Spa to the biomass thermal power plant in the hamlet of Cogolo. This work is part of a more comprehensive project for the creation of a network for distributing heat from renewable sources to all civil and economic activities in the valley.

The tourist vocation of the valley has grown in recent decades, thanks to the wealth of mineral springs that flow into the Val di Pejo.  The springs have also made it possible to offer a variety of curative treatments. Moreover, at the Spa facilities, they use local natural ingredients, such as blueberry, arnica, gentian, yarrow, oat and sage in the cosmetics used in the spa treatments. A selection of apples, raspberries and blueberries and herbal tea based on elderberry, dog rose, berries and wild peach is provided at the Wellness Area to make one enjoy moments of relaxation while tasting local healthy products.
